Featured Business: Wanderlust Eyecare

WhatsNewWonderlust

Dr. Faye always knew that she would run her own optometry practice someday. When and where inspiration would strike however, would occur years after her first job in eyecare. But those who had worked beside her knew she had the creative spirit and tenacity to open her own business all along.

Established right here in Northfield this August, Wanderlust Eyecare is the perfect showcase for Dr. Faye’s dedication to her field. The store exudes a calm representation of nature and serenity, while displaying independent designer eyewear from across the world. Its bright whites, calming light boxes, and maple wood shelving and accents provide patients a welcomed change from a typical doctor’s office.

Dr. Faye graduated Cum Laude from the Illinois College of Optometry, before completing a residency in ocular disease at the Captain James A. Lovell VA Hospital. Her “eye” for fashion and selection of high quality eyewear afford her patients the opportunity to try on great pieces in addition to seeing their best.

“I’ve always felt that glasses were meant to be an extension of you. Why not wear something that enhances and highlights who you are?” said Dr. Faye. “As a doctor, I can find you the right prescription, but I always want to make sure you feel great about your glasses too.”

Dr. Faye’s unique beginnings provide an inherent advantage over most optometrists and practice owners. Her journey into eyecare actually started with a position as a sales associate on a retail floor before being promoted to an optician at a private practice group in downtown Chicago. She earned her ABO certification and fit thousands of patients in glasses before ultimately becoming a doctor of optometry. Her understanding of frame sizing and style, as it relates to her patients visual needs, is among the best in the optometric field.

Today, Dr. Faye focuses on eye wellness, dry eye treatment and prevention, computer eye fatigue, and contact lens fittings. Patients are welcomed to stop by the store during office hours, or call (847) 787-1187 anytime to book an appointment. You can also check out Dr. Faye’s mini-site at www.wanderlusteyecare.com.
