The Village Center Task Force is comprised of ten (10) appointed members, each of whom bring to the table industry knowledge, professional experience and a commitment to make Northfield a better community. The committee is charged with formulating redevelopment alternatives for the Village Center district and will ultimately forward a recommendation to the President and Board of Trustees. The goal of the Task Force is to create a viable plan to enhance the area as a pedestrian-oriented retail and service core for the Northfield community. Much of the focus has been to build upon the existing, enviable array of specialty shops and niche boutiques which make Northfield a distinct destination point and serves the day-to-day needs of Village residents.
Improved streetscapes, including lighting, landscape, hardscape, and street furnishings, will reinforce the Village Center “experience” and encourage multi-purpose visits, without the need to drive from point-to-point. Another fundamental goal of the Task Force is the creation of a civic space, where Village functions, events and activities can occur and provide the opportunity for our residents to interact and strengthen Northfield’s sense of community. It is hoped that following meetings with Village Center property owners and key stakeholders, conceptual plans will be available for resident input at community-wide meetings later this Summer
