The Community Rating System (CRS) is a program run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that rewards communities that undertake activities beyond those required by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
The Village of Northfield is actively pursuing CRS designation which, when completed, will provide a 10% reduction in flood insurance rates for residents who may be required to carry flood insurance, as well as increase resident awareness of flood prone areas within the Village. |
