The Northfield Fire-Rescue Department was established in 1939 with twenty volunteer
firefighters in the orgnization. Today, the Northfield Fire-Rescue
Department operates with over fifty part-time fire and rescue staff who
bring expertise from around the Chicagoland area. The Fire-Rescue
Department operates out of one station located at 1800 Winnetka Road and
covers a three square mile area within the Village in addition to
participation in a mutal aid system with neighboring communities.
