9-1-1 is for emergencies, potential emergencies, or when an emergency is imminent.

When are Water Bills sent out?

Water is billed quarterly. Effective 04/01/08 water rates are $3.90 per 100 cubic feet.
Water bills also include a charge for sanitary sewer use. That charge, based on water
usage, is currently $1.25 per 100 cubic feet of water used. Rate adjustments, when
required; usually go into effect on May 1st. If your payment is late there is a10%
late fee applied to the bill
What about pets in Northfield?

Residents who own a dog(s) or cat(s) are required to register their pets for a one-time
fee of $25.00. Once a pet has been registered with the Village, residents are NOT required to
renew this registration. The cost of replacing a lost tag is $20.00. The Village also requires
registration for residents who own and keep a horse(s) on their property.

How do I dispose of yard waste?

Any tree removal in a front or side yard setback requires a tree permit. Call 847-784-3555

Yard Waste is an optional service that must be contracted by the season with Waste Management.
It is collected weekly on Mondays from April through mid December. Contact Waste
Management to schedule this service.
How Do I Register to Vote?

Residents may register to vote at the Northfield Village Hall, 361 Happ Road, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm except during closed periods prior to an election. The person registering must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older before the next election and provide two forms of identification (one must have current address). Residents may also obtain a “mail-in” registration form at the Village Hall or register in person at the offices of the Secretary of State, the Northfield Township Office, at 3801 W. Lake St., Glenview; the New Trier Township Office at 739 Elm St., Winnetka or the Cook County Clerk’s Office in Skokie, 5600 W. Old Orchard Road, Room 149 847-470-7233 or Chicago, 69 W.
