The Public Works Department will annually conduct a survey and evaluation of the Village's
sidewalks during the Spring of each year to determine if sections of the sidewalk need replacement.
During sidewalk inspections, evaluators will rate the condition of a sidewalk on a scale of 1-5, with five being
the worst condition. Those sidewalks determined to be a 4 or 5 shall be scheduled for replacement
as soon as possible.

Voluntary Replacement 50/50 Program
If a section of the sidewalk does not meet the replacement requirements, but the resident still
wishes to have the section replaced for aesthetic or other reasons, the Village will
pay 1/2 or 50% of the replacement costs (dependant upon budget allocations). In instances where the Village
is not replacing any sidewalks, or the repair period has already been completed, that section
of the sidewalk will be added to the next year's replacement plan. Under no cicumstances may the resident
replace a sidewalk on their own and bill the Village for any cost.
