When a new resident moves into a Northfield property they need to notify the Northfield Water Department to set up their water billing account by calling the Village Hall, (847) 446-9200 ext. 2225. Due to new identity theft regulations, new residents must supply a form of identification to open a new water/sewer account.
Water is billed quarterly and also includes a charge for sanitary
sewer use. Rate adjustments, when required;
usually go into effect on May 1st. A 10% late fee is applied to bills paid after the due date.
Water/sewer payment can be deducted directly from a resident's checking or savings account or credit card on the due date of the bill. Residents who
wish to participate in the program, should complete and return the Authorization Agreement to the Village Hall. When the words "Autopay on MM/DD/YY" appear on your water bill, automatic direct debit payments have begun. Once enrolled, the Village will continue to charge your checking, savings account or credit card on the billing due date until a written notification from you is received to cancel the service. For residents who embrace the latest technology and the flexibility it affords, the Village has added a program that allows residents to log onto their water/sewer account, view account balances and water usage history, check the status, and pay bills online using a credit card. Residents who would like to take advantage of this new service, can click here and be taken to a login screen. As a first time user, your 12-digit account number is your login and password. After a successful login, you will be asked to complete a brief registration form and, at that time, you will be given an opportunity to change your password. The Village will process your registration and notify you by email that your internet account is established and ready for your secure access. Residents moving out of Northfield, or to another address in Northfield,are required to notify the Northfield Water Department to request a
final reading to close the account and update water billing information.
