This November and December, the Village Hall Art Gallery will feature art created by Northfielder Joan Shapiro. Her work explores non-verbal communication through color, pattern, figure, and design. Joan hopes to connect with gallery visitors at some level, and that her images will bring forth both feelings and healing.
Joan shared these words about her exhibit: “The arts have healed me again and again by providing a world of imagination, with flexible limits and unbounded joy. We can turn to the arts- singing, dancing, painting, writing- to create a world of kindness and acceptance. We can meet in this world of imagination with no disagreement or judgment. Art creates a world of saying yes to individuality, creativity, innovation, and dreams. In a war-torn world, I invite you to meet me through art, to enjoy a brief respite from harsh realities, and to explore harmony.”
Joan’s featured artwork is available for purchase with a donation of at least $200 to the Northfield Food Pantry. When making a donation, inform the Pantry that the donation is for a piece of Joan Shapiro’s artwork.
Please join us on December 5 for a gallery opening celebrating Joan’s work from 5:00-7:00 PM at Village Hall. You can also view the exhibit any time Village Hall is open, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM from November 1-December 30.
