50/50 Parkway Tree Program Request

Each autumn, the Village offers residents the option of planting a tree on their public or private parkway at half-price. Trees purchased through the 50/50 Parkway Tree Program include delivery, planting, mulch, and a one-year guarantee. The full cost of each tree ($750) is split equally between the Village and residents, resulting in a rate of $375 per tree for residents. Orders and payments must be submitted by Friday, September 16, 2022 at 4:30 PM. For additional information, contact Eric Jordan at 847-784-3588 or ejordan@northfieldil.org.

Which type and quantity of trees would you like to purchase? Options include:

Bald Cypress- The Bald Cypress has short needles and yields small cones. It will grow to 50-70 feet tall with a 25-foot canopy.

Bur Oak- The Bur Oak's large acorns offer food for local wildlife. It will grow to 70-80 feet tall with a wide 80-foot canopy.

Honey Locust: The Honey Locust is popular for its fragrant spring flowers and lovely yellow fall color. It produces large brown seed pods and will grow to be 30-70 feet tall with a 50-foot canopy.

London Planetree: The London Planetree yields ball-like clusters of seeds and its trunk's red-brown scales flake to show cream-colored inner bark. It will grow to be 75-100 feet tall with a wide 80-foot canopy.

Swamp White Oak: The Swamp White Oak produces acorns to feed local wildlife and beautiful fall color in shades of yellow, bronze, and red-purple. It has a peeling bark and will grow to be 50-60 feet tall with a 55-foot canopy.*

Where you would like the tree(s) planted? Please be specific- on which street, north/south/east/west of house/driveway/mailbox etc. Village staff will work with you to make sure the trees are placed in accordance with good forestry practices and to accommodate underground utilities. *
