LEHMAN SCHOOL OF DANCE was born in 1976 and was located at West School in Glencoe. Much has changed in these forty years – besides locations.
La Verne has had the opportunities and experience to choreograph and direct innumerable shows for many theatres and films, as well as various performance venues. Passionate about continuing her education, she has been able to study with many different master dancers and teachers, including Edward Villilla, Jacques d’Amboise, Violet Verdy, Elizabeth Carroll, Larry Long and dozens of other incredible teachers who have added to her body of knowledge. In that time, she also became active in coaching gymnasts, skaters and athletes, speaking at athletic seminars and published articles re proper athletic training in coaching magazines. She has never stopped learning, experimenting and teaching. She continues to this day and is on the board of the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters.
We are very select in the teachers we hire to teach at our studio. Each has had a studio background; continued her dance studies through high school and college; is a professional dancer AND a professional teacher. Each has a background in Cecchetti, Russian and French Ballet plus a myriad of techniques in Modern, Jazz and Tap.
The studio is now located a few miles from Glencoe in downtown Northfield, where there are four dance studios and a boutique in the Northfield Village Square Mall.
Lehman’s has been a staple on the North Shore for forty years and it’s looking forward to many more.
We’d like to thank all of the thousands of families and dancers who have supported Lehman School because, without all of you, there would be no LEHMAN SCHOOL OF DANCE!
